In this one-hour presentation, Ali Berquez, Clinical Lead at the Michael Palin Centre, describes the principles and practice of Cognitive Behavior Therapy in stuttering therapy. She then introduces participants to the Family Maintenance Model (Biggart, Cook & Fry, 2007) as a way of conceptualizing the interaction between children who stutter and their parents. She gives an overview of the key themes that come up for parents using this model and explores ways to support children and parents to manage their emotions and behavioral responses. Video examples are shared.
